Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question? Here are the ones we hear most often, grouped by topic. If you can't find what you're looking for, get in touch — we're always happy to help.

General

01 What is Omnixi?

Omnixi is a managed business communications provider. We deliver mobile, VoIP, broadband, networking, IoT connectivity, cyber security, and custom integrations — all managed through one intelligent platform. We're a trading name of Signal Solutions Ltd.

02 Who is Omnixi for?

We work with UK businesses of all sizes, from 10-person offices to multi-site enterprises. If your business relies on communications and connectivity, we can help.

03 What makes you different from other telecoms providers?

Three things: our intelligent platform gives you visibility and control that most providers can't match, we proactively manage your services instead of waiting for you to report problems, and we're genuinely transparent about pricing and advice.

04 Where are you based?

We're a UK-based company with UK-based support. When you call us, you speak to someone who knows telecoms and knows your account.

Mobile

01 Which networks do you use?

We work across all major UK networks including EE, Vodafone, O2, and Three. We recommend the best network — or combination of networks — based on your coverage needs.

02 Can I keep my existing mobile numbers?

Yes. We handle the full number porting process with no disruption to your service.

03 Do you support BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)?

Yes. We offer SIM-only plans for BYOD setups, or we can supply handsets as part of the package.

VoIP & Phone Systems

01 Do we need special internet for VoIP?

VoIP works over any decent broadband connection. We assess your connectivity as part of the setup and can provide business-grade broadband with QoS settings if needed.

02 Can we keep our existing phone numbers?

Yes. We port all your existing numbers — geographic and non-geographic — across to the new system.

03 What's the difference between VoIP and SIP trunking?

VoIP replaces your entire phone system with a cloud-hosted solution. SIP trunking keeps your existing PBX hardware but replaces the ISDN lines with internet-based trunks. We can advise which is right for your situation.

SIP Trunking

01 Is my PBX compatible with SIP trunking?

Most modern IP-enabled PBX systems support SIP trunking. We carry out a compatibility check as part of the initial assessment.

02 What's the ISDN switch-off?

BT is retiring the PSTN and ISDN network by 2027. If your business uses ISDN lines, you'll need to migrate to an alternative — SIP trunking is the direct replacement.

Broadband & Fibre

01 What speeds can I get at my address?

It depends on the infrastructure available. We'll run a postcode check and tell you exactly what's available — FTTP, FTTC, or whether a leased line would be the better option.

02 What happens if my connection goes down?

We'll likely know before you do. Our monitoring detects outages automatically, raises a fault with the carrier, and keeps you updated. If you have 4G/5G backup, your connection fails over automatically.

Leased Lines

01 How long does a leased line installation take?

Typically 30 to 90 working days, depending on circuit type and whether any civils work is needed at your site.

02 Do I need a leased line or will fibre broadband do?

It depends on your requirements. If you're running VoIP, cloud-critical applications, or need strong upload speeds and guaranteed uptime, a leased line is worth the investment. We'll help you decide.

Networking & Wi-Fi

01 Do you do a site survey before quoting?

Always. We won't quote a networking project without understanding the physical space and your requirements. The survey is free.

02 Can you manage our existing network equipment?

In many cases, yes — especially if it supports cloud management. We'll assess your current kit and advise.

IoT & M2M

01 What's the difference between IoT SIMs and normal SIMs?

IoT SIMs are designed for machine-to-machine communication. They're more robust, support multi-network roaming, offer remote management, and come on data-only plans optimised for device usage patterns.

02 Can I pool data across multiple devices?

Yes. Pooled data plans spread a single allowance across your entire device estate for better cost efficiency.

Microsoft Teams Calling

01 Do we need special Microsoft licences?

You need the Microsoft Phone System capability, included in E5 licences or available as an add-on for E1/E3 and Business plans. We'll advise on the most cost-effective path.

02 Can we port our existing numbers to Teams?

Yes. We handle the full porting process so your team keeps their existing DDI numbers.

Cyber Security

01 Where do we start with cyber security?

With an assessment. We look at what you've got in place, identify gaps, and recommend a practical plan — starting with the highest-impact measures.

02 Can you help us get Cyber Essentials certified?

Yes. We support the full Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification process.

Billing & Support

01 How does billing work?

One bill, one provider. All your Omnixi services appear on a single, clear invoice with full breakdowns by service, department, or cost centre.

02 What support do I get?

Every customer gets access to our support team and the Omnixi platform. We offer three support tiers — Essentials, Professional, and Enterprise — with increasing SLAs and account management. See our Managed Services page for full details.

03 Can I manage my services myself?

Yes. The Omnixi platform gives you self-service tools for day-to-day management — SIM orders, tariff changes, user management, call routing, and more. And when you need us, we're a call or ticket away.
